Summer is here… and we are delighted! Chatty fantails are flitting about, bumble bees hum over the wild thyme, lavender and cabbage tree in our native garden and the lake beckons paddlers and boaties. Our neighbouring mountain bike and walking tracks are bursting with colour and scents as fitfuls of manuka blossom and mauve-hued lupins burst into life. The days are growing longer and everything looks fresh, green and vibrant. After hosting the poets Sue Wootton and Sam Hunt who ran workshops at the Shack over the winter, we’ve been feeling truly inspired so have planned a Pop Up Picnic at the Shack next month to celebrate local style and creativity.
Whether you feel the need for a few days of peace and quiet or action and adventure in glorious surroundings, you will find The Black Shack is the right spot for kicking back this season. With a long lazy South Island summer ahead, we are taking reservations for school holidays and short breaks now, and still have some availability over the peak periods of Christmas and Easter.
